Gigaset C470 IP – classic, cordless phones for fixed network and VoIP calls

Gigaset Communications has launched the Gigaset C470 IP, thereby extending its offering of hybrid cordless phones for fixed network and internet telephony (VoIP). As with all Gigaset IP phones, a PC is not needed for configuration. Changing from IP to fixed network calls is done at the touch of a button. Gigaset IP phone users have access to additional services, including a weather service and a news service via RSS feed. Thanks to ECO-DECT technology, the new Gigaset saves energy and allows the variable reduction of transmitting power.

Very simple VoIP calls without a PC

VoIP can easily be adopted by businesses using the Gigaset C470 IP and without having to use a PC. By choosing a VoIP supplier, the corresponding settings for internet telephony are automatically loaded into the menu and the individual user data is entered using the keypad. Up to six SIP accounts from different providers can be installed. Two VoIP calls and a fixed-line call can be made simultaneously. The Gigaset C470 IP can be used with up to six handsets and thus can be used ideally as a small PBX.

New IP services such as a weather service or the latest news via RSS feed

Together with MeteoGroup, Gigaset Communications offers a weather service with its IP phones: Instead of a screensaver in standby-mode, the phone shows the weather forecast. The weather forecast can be set through the internet site www.gigaset.net/myaccount , for   certain cities, like the location of a holiday house for example.   Alternatively, the latest news can be received on the display via RSS feed. New emails with sender, time, date and subject information can be also received over an implemented POP3 email engine and without a PC connection.

ECO DECT saves energy and variably adjusts transmitting power

Like all new devices in the Gigaset family, the Gigaset C470 IP contributes to environmental protection. Thanks to new switching power supplies, the ECO-DECT technology uses less energy than former models. Choosing ECO Mode reduces the base station’s transmitting power by 80%, even when multiple handsets are being used (the use of up to 6 handsets is possible).

Attractive design and plenty of comfort

The shiny, black front cover with silver, illuminated buttons as well as a big, illuminated color display not only give a great appearance to the new phones, but also offer the best possible ease of use. Additional comfort features include a speaker phone with full-duplex quality and a directory with room for 150 phone numbers. Particularly practical for young families is the fact that the handset of the Gigaset E495 can also be used as a baby monitor. A standard headset (2.5 mm) can also be connected to the handset.

Availability and prices

The Siemens Gigaset C470 IP is priced at $239.00. An individual Gigaset C47H handset including charger is available for $99.00.
