Gigaset Communications: Sale of broadband business to Sagem Communications concluded
Gigaset Communications GmbH has concluded the sale of its broadband business. Following approval of the transaction by antitrust authorities and other bodies, the related business activities were transferred to Sagem Communications effective July 1, 2009 (closing of the agreement). In March of this year, the two companies had agreed in principle to the sale of Gigaset’s broadband business as part of an asset deal. Sagem Communications is a subsidiary of The Gores Group, U.S., and Gigaset Communications is an ARQUES Industries AG company.

The latest flagship models Siemens Gigaset SL780 and Gigaset SL785 (with an answering machine) can now be personalized with images and sounds. With the new Gigaset QuickSync 4.0 software, users can load digital photos on their phone in many popular formats and use them as a slideshow, a screen saver or in conjunction with stored numbers (Picture CLIP). It is equally simple to edit and load custom ringtones – in MP3 format, for example. The new software version also makes it possible to synchronize individual Outlook folders and to administer multiple handsets in parallel.
