New top-class phone Gigaset launches first full touch phone for the home

Munich, September 6, 2011 – Gigaset, Europe’s leader in the DECT market, presents its new premium model with touch technology. The Gigaset SL910 is the first full touchscreen phone for the home and, thanks to its large capacitive display, is very simple to use by finger. Gigaset is thus the first vendor to apply this means of operation familiar from tablet computers and mobile phones to cordless phones. Gigaset’s flagship has a large address book for 500 contacts with up to eight numbers each, a high-volume loudspeaker for excellent acoustics and a large internal memory for up to 200 sound clips and some 240 photos. A high-gloss, polished real-metal frame, the piano black battery cover and the chrome-plated charging cradle make the elegant phone a must for people with a discriminating taste for design. The jury of the red dot design award was also won over and has bestowed its prize on the new premium phone.

The high-quality full touch display with a 8.1 cm diagonal and intuitive user interface make the phone even easier to operate. Owners can familiarize themselves and use the individual menus very quickly and easily. The Gigaset SL910 offers three different screens, between which users can toggle with a horizontal swish of the finger. The info page (Info Centre) shown constantly in standby mode can be freely configured. It can be used to store favorite contacts or frequently used functions, for example. The second screen, the Dial Centre, shows the number keys, the address book and some favorites. The Message Centre, the third screen, provides direct access to the call list, answering machine or short messages.

Brilliant display, brilliant colors

The full brilliance of the 6.8 cm x 4.5 cm display with 320 x 480 pixels is demonstrated in particular when photos are presented on it. The handset’s 3.5-MByte memory offers space for up to 240 photos. When compiled as a slideshow, they offer an attractive screen saver.

Top-class sound – even in handsfree operation

The loudspeaker built into the Gigaset SL910’s ear piece ensures an excellent sound quality. Anyone who wants to make calls with a group of people or have their hands free when phoning will appreciate the handsfree feature with its powerful separate loudspeaker. Four different handsfree profiles allow its sound to be adapted to suit the ambient noise level.

Extensive contact directory

The address book has space for up to 500 vCard entries, each with eight numbers. Each contact can be assigned a photo that is shown when a call from the person in question is received (Picture Clip). The Gigaset SL910 makes it very simple to synchronize the address book entries with Outlook contacts on a PC and Mac: Wirelessly by Bluetooth or using a cable with a mini-USB port. Photos and new ringtones can also be transferred to the handset in this way. The synchronization software Gigaset QuickSync can be downloaded free of charge from the Website www.gigaset.com. In telephony mode, users can initiate calls directly from Outlook (CTI – Computer Telephony Integration).
