Easy introduction to IP telephony with the Siemens Gigaset A580 IP
We proudly present the Siemens Gigaset A580 IP, a duo function phone for fixed-line and VoIP telephony. The new hybrid model is intended for anyone who wishes to leverage the advantages of low-cost Internet telephony and additional services without giving up the fixed-line connection. IP access is configured directly from the phone’s menu, without the need for a PC. The phone is distinguished by long talk and standby times, a handsfree function and excellent voice quality.
The Siemens Gigaset A580 IP is connected to the normal phone jack and to the home router. As a result, users not only have a fixed-line connection, but can also enjoy all the advantages of IP telephony, for example low-cost calls abroad or even free connections if a DSL flat rate is used for calls within a provider’s network. No PC is needed for configuring IP access. The desired provider can be selected on the handset’s display and the data can be downloaded. A logo on the display indicates whether fixed-line or IP mode has been selected. Users can switch easily between the two modes with a long press on the green talk key.
An ideal feature for families or people sharing a flat: the base station can be extended by up to six handsets and up to six different VoIP profiles can be configured. Three calls – one analog and two over the Internet – are possible simultaneously.
Value added with additional services
When users connect their Siemens Gigaset IP phones, they automatically become members of “Gigaset.net”, from which they can obtain various free services, such as an online phonebook, weather service, personal horoscope and biorhythm programs, or eBay service that provides up-to-date information on auctions. The contents of the services appear automatically as a screensaver on the phone’s display. Users of Gigaset IP phones can also call each other free of charge via Gigaset.net.
A further highlight is the voice transmission by HDSP (High Definition Sound Performance): this technology transmits the callers' voices in a doubled frequency range, making the sound crisper and clearer than that in conventional calls over the analog or IP line.
Lots of benefits and environmentally friendly technology
Convenient features include the illuminated display, handsfree function, SMS functionality and the integrated phonebook with space for 150 contacts. If the CLIP function is enabled, the names and phone numbers of the callers are also displayed (if they are stored in the phonebook). Additionally, users can display the last 20 callers with their names, phone numbers and date stamps and dial them directly. People who phone frequently will be delighted with the long talk time of up to 25 hours; the handset can also go up to 210 hours between charges.
A special bonus for the environment: the Siemens Gigaset A580 IP is equipped with an energy-saving power supply and uses up to 60 percent less electricity than conventional phones. Its transmitting power is reduced variably thanks to integrated ECO DECT technology.
