Gigaset M560: Recording TV programs at the touch of a button

Hanover, Mar 8, 2006 |
Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices is launching its new Gigaset M560, an easy-to-install DVD recorder with an integrated hard disk. The highlight: users who operate the device with a digital set-top box can easily program the set-top box to record programs or start recording at the touch of a button.

The Gigaset M560 from Siemens is a new DVD recorder that records both digital and analog TV programs. Analog programs can be recorded as usual thanks to the built-in analog tuner. What’s more, the Gigaset M560 also supports operation together with digital set-top boxes. Gigaset mode makes this simple: all users have to do is program their set-top box, which then automatically sends a signal to the DVD recorder to start recording when the selected program begins.

The integrated hard disk with a capacity of 160 gigabytes permits recordings in different formats, such as HQ, SP or LP. Favorite programs can then be archived on DVD – without commercials, since the recordings can be edited before burning them. As a result, the device is ideal for users who want to replace their conventional video recorder or can no longer use it due to the new digital broadcasting standard DVB. In combination with the Gigaset M365 S and M365 T set-top boxes, the Gigaset M560 can even record one program while users watch another.

The simple on-screen menu (in a choice of four languages) and the intuitive remote control ensure user-friendliness. The DV input at the front of the new Siemens DVD recorder can be used to connect a digital video camera, allowing private videos to be edited and copied to DVD.

The Gigaset M560 supports the formats DVD+R/+RW-R/-RW, VCD, VCD 2.0, SVCD, CD, MP3 and JPEG and will go on sale in the second quarter of 2006.
