DECT roaming in the palm grove – Gigaset's multicell systems provide more security for bathing guests
Suntago Waterworld is the largest water park in Europe. Up to 15,000 people can visit this tropical paradise at the same time to enjoy the water slides and 18 pools, relax in the sauna and spa area, or unwind in the thermal and saltwater pools. A team of almost 400 employees, lifeguards and rescue swimmers ensure the safety of visitors. A scalable, flexible and reliable communications infrastructure was needed to ensure that the team could be reached at all times on the premises and that help was quickly on hand in the event of an emergency. Gigaset's partner Netia in Poland recommended the Gigaset N870 IP PRO multicell system. 26 base stations provide seamless DECT roaming across the entire Suntago area and ensure that all employees can be reached, no matter where they are on the premises. 50 Gigaset Gigaset R700H PRO devices are in use – the particularly robust handsets are protected against water, shocks and moisture in accordance with IP65.
Company profile: The Park of Poland – a company on a growth path
Suntago, the largest covered water park in Europe, is part of the Park of Poland project, which also includes the accommodation base Suntago Village. It is located just 35 minutes from the centre of Warsaw in Wręcza near Mszczonów. The resort allows visitors to spend their holidays in Poland in a tropical climate of 32 degrees Celsius. Surrounded by more than 740 real palm trees from around the world, Suntago is a great alternative to a holiday abroad. Suntago Village offers three themed areas – Jamango, Relax with Wellness & SPA and the Saunaria area. The last two are only available to guests over the age of 16. Suntago is a place where you can spend a few hours or stay longer and enjoy the holiday atmosphere. The comfortable accommodation in the Suntago Village is designed for the latter. There are 92 fully equipped, modern modular cottages with play areas for children, a barbecue area and a reception with a mini delicatessen.
The initial situation: difficult structures, challenging environment
The Suntago Village's structure, with reinforced concrete, lots of glass and reflective surfaces, presents a challenge for the telecommunications infrastructure. Employees should be reachable throughout the entire area – whether they are in the operating rooms, behind the water slides, in the palm forest, in the sauna area or in the tropical area. For operational reasons, it was also not always possible to install the base stations at the location that was determined during the advance measurements. So a particularly flexible system was needed that was still able to cover all areas. The requirements for the handsets were also high: as a constant companion for the lifeguards, they should be durable, robust and, of course, waterproof. And in view of the fact that the ‘Park of Poland’ will continue to grow in the next few years, there was a desire for a scalable solution that can be easily expanded.
The solution: reach every last corner with DECT multicell
Netia decided on an installation with the Gigaset N870 IP PRO multicell system. 26 base stations were distributed across the area to be covered based on propagation calculations. The N870 Integrator software connects them to a large handover domain within which you can move freely without losing reception or a connection. The multi-cell system works with the Grandstream UCM6208 PBX system on site. Netia has already successfully implemented several projects in Poland with the Gigaset PRO team. In particular, DECT mapping has proven to be an effective way of ensuring 100% network coverage. High customer satisfaction prompted Netia to ask the DECT professionals from Gigaset for technical support with system configuration and commissioning once again. With the base stations already installed during the construction work, the entire configuration and setup took just a few hours in the evening. The N870 IP PRO's web-based user interface (IPUI) enables easy mass configurability and makes the administrator's work easier. The lifeguards at Suntago are now equipped with the Gigaset R700H PRO – the handset, which was only introduced in 2021, is optimally matched to Gigaset's single- and multi-cell systems. Thanks to its IP65 protection class, the device is water-repellent and resistant to knocks and scratches. The perfect companion in the Suntago Wodny Świat.
